Alien Worlds Worker Proposals

Worker Proposals offer an open pathway for individuals to secure funding from Alien Worlds DAOs for innovative projects. Whether the initiative involves game development, tool creation, artistic endeavors, or event planning, the scope is vast, encouraging diverse contributions that enhance the Alien Worlds community.

These proposals also enable the distribution of TLM to numerous high-performing teams engaged in community projects within Alien Worlds. As they originate from the community rather than Syndicate custodians, Worker Proposals provide a transparent and community-driven funding method, reinforcing support for innovation.

What makes a 'Good' Proposal?

For new and veteran users, at alienworlds.io we have created a guide for best practices when creating a Worker Proposal. Get to know the DAO you are requesting funds from and the Arbiters which will help review and work with your Proposal(s).

Go to Best Practices Guide

Choose a DAO

In order to begin submitting your proposal, you must first choose a planet and login using your preferred wallet. Once logged in, you may toggle between planets and view those proposals.

Logging In

On the Home Screen, you will be able to login by choosing a planet or continue as a visitor.

First Time Login

If this is your first time logging in with your wallet, you will be prompted with the "Best Practices" introduction. Please familiarize yourself with these before attempting to create proposal. If you are just a visitor, then please choose the visitor option before logging in formally

I just want to Browse the Proposals

Select any of the planets from the dropdown and select the "Continue as Visitor" option below the 'Sign In' button.

Submitting a Proposal

Once you have determined your project, DAO, Arbiter and the funds required, you are ready to proceed to the next steps:

KYC Compliant

In order to submit your proposal you'll need to be KYC Compliant (Know Your Customer,) the key to building a secure and trusted community. By confirming identities, we reduce fraud, promote transparency, and ensure that only verified members can engage, creating a safer, more reliable ecosystem for everyone.

Voting State – Worker Proposal

Once a Proposal has been succesfully submitted, it will appear in this state. From here, the DAO and the assigned Arbiter must interact during the voting state:

The DAO

3 out of the 5 Custodians must vote to approve the proposal. Custodians can also vote down the proposal and additionally can abstain (not vote at all.) At any point a proposal remains in the Voting State, Custodians can continually change their vote.

If the Custodians vote down the Proposal, then the Proposal will be passed onto the "Rejected" State and no further action is required.

The Arbiter

The chosen Arbiter has to accept their role as the acting arbiter of the proposal. If an Arbiter does not agree to the role, the proposal will never pass the voting state and will eventually expire.

The Worker

Once both the Custodians vote 3 out of 5 approvals and the Arbiter has agreed to arbitrate on said proposal, the Worker will have the option to "Start Work" directly on the Proposal Card Details. Once the Worker does so, the Proposal will be passed to the "In Progress" State.

In Progress State – Worker Proposal

After the worker has signed the smart contract to "Start Work" the proposal is passed into the "In Progress" State.

The DAO

Does nothing during this state, but should be checking in with the Worker.

The Arbiter

Does nothing during this state, but should be checking in with the progress of the Worker and communicate with the DAO as necessary.

The Worker

A button on the Proposal Card Details, "Complete Work" will always be available to the Worker.

Finalizing State – Worker Proposal

Once the Worker is confident that the Work proposed has been fully completed within in the proposed timeframe, the Worker will proceed to Finalize their Work on their Proposal Card and the Custodians will proceed to approve or disapprove said work.

If the work is disapproved, the Worker has the option to "Dispute Proposal," in which the chosen Arbiter will step in to review and resolve.

The Worker

When the work has been completed from the Worker, they will navigate to their Worker Proposal Details, and click on "Complete Work."

If their work was voted down, they will have a new option to dispute the decision of the Custodians and enter arbitration with the assigned Arbiter.

The DAO

Once The Worker has submitted the "Complete Work" action, 3 out of the 5 Custodians can "Vote Yes!" – which will pass the Proposal into the "Completed" State; or "Vote No..." – allowing the worker to Dispute the decision and pass the Proposal into the "In Dispute" State.

The Arbiter

Does Nothing during the "Finalizing" State.

In Dispute State – Worker Proposal

When 3 out of the 5 Custodians vote down (Vote No...) on the work submitted and the Worker has initiated the "Dispute Proposal" option.

The Arbiter

Will review the Proposal with the Worker and the DAO, to make sure that the work has or has not been done. In the case that they enter a resolution of "Completed Work" the Arbiter will pass the Work as Completed.

If the Proposal is not Complete, the Arbiter will Reject the Proposal, passing it into the "Rejected" State. In these cases it is most likely the Worker will need to create another Proposal after reaching a mutual agreement on the next steps for Completed Work.

The DAO

Does Nothing in the "In Dispute" State

The Worker

Does Nothing in the "In Dispute" State

Completed State – Worker Proposal

When a Proposal is passed into the "Completed" State from "Finalizing" or from "In Dispute," this will serve as a history of successful proposals. Once in this State, all funds will be released to the Worker and the Arbiter (except the 120 TLM entry fee.)

Rejected State – Worker Proposal

When a Proposal is passed onto the "Rejected" State from "Voting" or from "In Dispute," this will serve as a history of unsuccessful proposals. Once in this State, all funds will be released back to the DAO (except the 120 TLM entry fee.)

Expired State – Worker Proposal

When a Proposal is passed to the "Expired" State from a Proposal not being executed/interacted with from the Custodians or Arbiter in the "Voting," "Finalizing," or from the "In Dispute" States, this will serve as a history of expired proposals. Once in this State, all funds will be released back to the DAO (except the 120 TLM entry fee.)
